About Patrick Cooper

Patrick Cooper is a polymath and community catalyst based in Pittsburgh, whose work spans the intersections of science, service, art, education, and architecture. With a background in theoretical physics and a deep commitment to civic engagement, Patrick brings a systems-thinking approach to every project he touches—whether it’s shaping public education policy, designing imaginative built environments, or mentoring the next generation of thinkers and makers.

A Life of Interdisciplinary Impact

Patrick’s professional portfolio weaves together a wide array of roles and responsibilities. He has taught physics, mathematics, and design at institutions including NYU, the University of Pittsburgh, Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, Duquesne University, CCAC, and City of Bridges High School. His research in non-perturbative QCD (quantum chromodynamics) reflects a passion for complexity and the unseen structures that govern our world—an outlook that echoes across his work in education, urban planning, and creative technology.

A tireless advocate for community-driven systems, Patrick currently serves on the boards of:

  • Hagush

  • Pittsburgh Learning Commons

  • Locally Served

  • Locally Grown

  • Community for Pittsburgh Ultimate

  • City of Bridges High School

His civic involvement also includes leadership and service with the Wilkinsburg School Board, Forest Hills Environmental Advisory Council, and as an Allegheny County Judge of Elections. Patrick’s work with Community Forge and other grassroots initiatives has helped nurture resilient local ecosystems for education, entrepreneurship, and collaborative design.

Creating Across Disciplines

In the realms of art, architecture, and interactive media, Patrick explores how technology and imagination can serve the human spirit. Notable creative projects include:

  • Quantified Self / Project Amelia

  • Human Anti-Virus

  • Cosmic Time Train

  • DnD Campaigns

  • Kosmic Collective (architecture/design)

  • Science Consulting for artistic and educational experiences

Each endeavor reflects a belief that curiosity, collaboration, and creative experimentation are essential tools for social change.

Building What’s Possible

Patrick’s past projects include work with Freedom Foundation Tennessee and Module Learner, initiatives that blend educational access with scalable impact. His contributions to government, real estate, contracting, and public service speak to a hands-on philosophy: build what you imagine, and do it in partnership with others.

Whether he’s designing a curriculum, advising on zoning, serving in elected roles, or building immersive installations, Patrick Cooper moves seamlessly between the abstract and the actionable—always grounded in the idea that better communities are possible when we listen, imagine, and build together.
